Top Events Pensacola
No matter what time of the year, Pensacola always has an event ready to pop off. Follow this guide, and there’s simply no way you can go wrong.
Don’t miss out on the ‘funnest’ run of the year. The McGuire’s Run is a wild event that starts off in front of McGuire’s Irish Pub on Gregory Street. To call this a race is a bit of a stretch. Racers show up in costume, usually grab a beer and walk or run the course. (A large majority of the racers don’t even finish, but this is considered acceptable.) We’re sorry for the few people that are actually trying to be healthy. The run takes place in March. (Treat yourself to a post-race Irish Wake … or two.)
No, we’re not suggesting that you eat the sand. Taste of the Beach is a September event that features celebrity chefs from Pensacola Beach’s most prestigious restaurants. All 23 restaurants on the beach showcase their signature dishes for $5 a pop — this is a DEAL! Don’t miss it if you’re in town.
Starting at the beginning of November, Foo Foo Festival is 12 days of high culture arts, ballet, concerts and more. The event is all centered around Southern cultural creativity. If it’s going to happen, it will happen at Foo Foo Fest.
Seafood lovers, rejoice! The Gulf Coast is home to some of the world’s most delicious seafood, and we will take any chance we can to brag about it. Sample seafood from tons of local restaurants and vendors while enjoying the beautiful downtown scenery. While the festival is a celebration of our love connection with seafood, there are also tons of other art and food vendors with live music peppered throughout the event. This is a three-day event at the end of September.
The Gulf Coast Arts Festival takes place at the beginning of November. The festival invites over 200 artists, potters, sculptors and musicians to descend on Downtown Pensacola. Who benefits? You, and every art lover in town.
During the month of February, the Pensacola Bay Center turns into a dreamscape for fantasy fans, cosplayers, superhero enthusiasts and a whole lot more. Pensacon has become a nationally recognized event that invites some of the biggest names in entertainment to sit on engaging panels and announce new and exciting projects.
You’ve probably heard about the acrobatic jet demonstration squadron known as the Blue Angels. But before you get carried away, you might want to back up. The Blue Angels are our hometown heroes based right here in Pensacola. What does this mean? There’s nothing like the Pensacola Blue Angels Air Show, and you have a front row seat for all of the action. Catch the blues flying right over your head as they cross the sabine on their way to the Gulf. (Shh, we’re one of the best-kept secrets on the island during the show.) The Pensacola Beach show takes place mid-July.
Kicking off on the first Tuesday in April, Bands on the Beach showcases local musical talent right on our beautiful white sands. The Gulfside Pavilion, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, is transformed into a lively outdoor music venue every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Bring your own chair and cooler, and get ready to dance the night away as the sun sets.
During Memorial Day Weekend, Pensacola Beach plays host to one of the wildest and energetic pride events in the South. The LGBT community from all over the US convenes and kicks off a week-long rager that doesn’t sleep. Tons of festivities and parties are planned during a week that celebrates diversity and acceptance, and we can dig it.
Since we’re only a hop, skip and a jump away from the Big Easy, Mardi Gras is a big deal for us. There are parades both in Downtown Pensacola and on Pensacola Beach. Get ready to catch some beads and let the good times roll.
Pensacola is America’s very first European settlement. Because of that, we’ve had quite a few flags flying over us. Fiesta of Five Flags is one of the oldest heritage festivals in the entire state of Florida. Come learn about the culturally diverse history our beautiful city has to offer. The celebration takes place during the first two weeks of June.
On select Friday nights, Gallery Night takes the “arts to the streets” of Downtown Pensacola. The roads are shut down, and pedestrians are free to peruse the galleries, restaurants and businesses that Downtown Pensacola has to offer. Musical acts take to the streets, and the party goes late into the evening. This is one of the few nights you can freely frolic through the streets with an open container.
