Downtown Pensacola has experienced an exciting amount of growth over the past decade. Perfect Plain Brewing Company is setting the bar high for craft breweries in Pensacola.
Guests enter the brewery through glass garage doors that let the breeze rolling off the street fill the industrial style taproom with high ceilings — you can even watch the skillful hands of the brewmasters work their magic in the massive tanks.
D.C., the Owner of Perfect Plain Brewing Company, spoke to us about the vision of the interior.
“We wanted to go with a clean industrial look,” he says. “But we also wanted to preserve the old bones of the building as much as possible.”
And keeping things local was at the top of the to-do list.
“Every single detail was given local consideration,” says D.C. “If I’m going to ask people to buy local beer, we felt like we needed to buy local products and art.”
You can’t miss the giant painting of Rachel Jackson painted directly on the bright white wall. Rachel Jackson has a lot to do with the name of the brewery.
“Rachel Jackson, Andrew Jackson’s wife, described Pensacola as ‘a perfect plain’ to a friend back home in Tennessee,” says D.C. “Our name is a tip of the cap to Pensacola’s past.”
When it comes to the hoppy stuff, the Holy Spin Citra IPA is fast becoming a crowd favorite. This IPA is dry hopped and has a refreshing rush of citrus and tropical flavors — perfect for a sunny Pensacola day.
If you’re not much of a beer drinker, don’t count the Perfect Plain team out yet. D.C. thinks that Perfect Plain is a great place for both beer lovers and future beer lovers — seriously, try the Holy Spin Citra IPA.
D.C. is ready for Pensacola to become a major player in the craft brewery scene.
“People go to the big cities to enjoy craft breweries,” he says. “We want people in the big cities to come to Pensacola for our beer.”
