There’s a lot of buff people on the beach — shout out to our boy Larry at the lifeguard shack! 😉 But if you’re more of a history buff, we can dig it. (Is there an archaeology joke in there?) Contrary to popular belief, Pensacola was the very first European settlement in America. That means that we have a whole heap of history right here in our hometown. From monuments and museums to historic forts, you can flex your brain and give that sunburn a day off.
We think the shore is swell. And when we’re not being comedians about it, we’re probably at one of these places.
Livin’ on the Gulf Coast means happiness is pretty easy to come by, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love a good happy hour as much as the next town. If you want to know where the locals go to grin for an hour or two, add these to your list.
Down here on the Gulf Coast, we love tacos. Whether you prefer corn tortillas or flour, tacos reign supreme. (You can even order a supreme taco … coincidence? We think not.) Since we’re so loco for tacos, just about everywhere serves them. Don’t stress out — we know where to find the best.
Palafox Street is the place to be in Downtown Pensacola. It’s at the center of the action. Even though strolling aimlessly down Palafox is a perfectly enjoyable pastime, sometimes it helps to know where to go. That’s where we come in.
No matter what time of the year, Pensacola always has an event ready to pop off. Follow this guide, and there’s simply no way you can go wrong.
Bushwackers are kind of our thing in Pensacola. If you’re scratching your head already, a Bushwacker is basically a chocolate milkshake … with a big kick. It’s got rum, Kahlúa, Crème de Cacao and a few other ingredients that vary depending on where you grab one. Almost every bartender will ask you if you want an extra shot, which is widely accepted as a no-brainer among locals. (You’re on vacation, get the extra shot!) We know all of the hottest spots for Pensacola’s coolest drink.
You don’t have to leave the beach to get a buzz going. In fact, we recommend staying. Stumbling back to the Surf & Sand Hotel on foot is the preferred mode of transportation. Make sure to hit these bars on your journey.
If shoving a big juicy burger in your mouth is your idea of a good time, we want to party with you. Not following our burger guide would be the biggest mistake of your life.
